Be a Bachelor in Civil Engineering
“If you’ve walked on a bridge, stood in a building, looked at a dam, observed a retaining wall –you guessed it, the result of civil engineering.”― Issac Oakeson

Program

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) Program in Civil Engineering at IBU offers both theoretical and practical approach to civil engineering disciplines. The four-year study program offers better understanding of civil engineering scientific fields. The B.Sc. degree carries 240 ECTS credits. Covering fields of Structural Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, and Infrastructure and Road Construction Engineering, the program is set to have two years of mutual courses, and two years of specialized courses, depending on the field that the student will choose.
Graduates from the Bachelor program at Burch Civil Engineering are awarded with the titles, depending on the study track chosen at the 3rd year of study:
Explore Our Tracks
Structural
Engineering

In the four-semester study track of structural engineering, advanced structural analysis of different types of buildings and construction are explained, using advanced BIM-based software and other Finite-Elements methods in designing and calculations. Detailed structural drawings up to finest details is done with assist of leading experts. This study track includes the design of Advanced steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures, foundation engineering and retaining structures, Bridges and tunnels design, modelling of structural systems, seismic analysis, composite and pre-stressed structures, and other related topics and courses.
Environmental and Water Resource Engineering

Water resource engineering includes all the aspects of analyzing the water sources, the need for water and the disposal of wastewaters generated in living units, industries, or stormwaters. Advanced Hydrological analysis and hydraulic calculations, as well as designing of water supply and wastewater systems, analysis of catchment areas and dams, developing water protection and water reuse systems and techniques, River training engineering, Hydro-power plants design, hydrodynamic process of ground water, GIS and terrain surveying, flood modelling, and hydrotechnical irrigation systems design are among topics and courses included in this track.
Transport Infrastructure
Engineering

In the two-years study track, the design theories and skills of the road’s infrastructure and railways, as well as the urban design of transport infrastructure are explained and analyzed, using advanced BIM-based design software. This track includes the road design and modelling, road subgrade analysis and design, railway structures design, underground structures, road pavement design, roads intersections and interchanges design, GIS and terrain surveying, Concrete and metal bridges, and Transport Planning and Traffic Management.
BIM oriented future
Civil Engineering Study Program integrated the usage of BIM (Building Information Modeling) software in the courses, as the intelligent 3D model-based process is lauded to be the future of engineering design.
