The Information Technology Lab
The Information Technology Laboratories at the International Burch University provide a number of resources to the students and located in on the third and fourth floor in the B building. The laboratories offer hardware and specialized software utilized for different courses. There are 24 workstations where each workstation has enough computing power to meet the needs of today’s most advanced software for programming, database design, graphical design and 3D modeling. Laboratories are available for drop-in student use during open hours unless a scheduled class is in session.

Burch Startup Incubator
Burch Startup incubator has a task to create a sustainable innovation platform through education, and market experimentation to support the formation of new companies leveraging our existing university-enterprise partnership. We do this by bringing the business community closer to the university community through the Burch Business Center (BBC). This allows BBC member companies the opportunity to train and mentor student teams, eventually realizing investment and commercialization opportunities.
In modern technology equipped classrooms of American Center, the professors, undergraduate and graduate students of the Department of English Language and Literature are striving to gain a better insight into the field of American culture and literature, theoretical and applied linguistics and language teaching. Numerous cultural gatherings, open and heated debates and fruitful discussions are held in this modern environment. To accomplish this mission, the Center has, on numerous occasions, brought experts from the aforementioned fields, who have substantially contributed to the quality of the Center and the Department as well. The Center has strong links throughout the academic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

Microbiology Research Laboratory
Microbiology Laboratory holds modern equipment for a range of experiments in fundamental biological sciences. Courses taught in this laboratory are: General Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Systems Physiology, Plant Physiology and Tissue Culture, and Immunology and Immunogenetics. Some of the equipment present in the lab includes the following: microscopes, incubator, laminar flow working platform, dry sterilization oven, ultrasonic cleaning unit, as well as all other disposables necessary for students' protection and maintaining sterile conditions.
Microbiology, Chemistry and Bioengineering Laboratory
Microbiology, Chemistry and Bioengineering Laboratory is fully equipped for conducting a variety of student exercises that are part of the chemistry courses held at the Department. Four courses are currently taught in this lab, namely General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Biochemistry. Lab equipment includes, but is not limited to analytical balance, pH meter, hot plate, equipment for titration experiments, Randall hot extraction apparatus, autoclave machine, and a fume hood.
Molecular Biology and Genetics Laboratory
The Genetics and Molecular Biology Laboratory is used for Molecular Biology, Genetics, Human Genetics, and Forensic Genetics exercises. This laboratory offers an opportunity for DNA and protein isolation and analysis since it contains all necessary equipment, such as centrifuge, analytical balance, heating block, stirring hot plate, vortex, spin-down, spectrophotometer, electrophoresis machines, micropipettes, and micro pipetting cabinet.
Scientific Research Laboratory
The laboratory is currently revolving around two main activities, educational and research. Educational activities refer to the continuous work with students studying on the first study cycle at the GBE Department whose lab exercises are conducted in the laboratory premises. On the other hand, research activities include graduate research work of the Department Master and PhD students, as well as academic staff and external researchers renting laboratory facilities for their needs.
This laboratory hosts the latest trends including the newest equipment for analog and digital electronics, semiconductors, embedded design and signal processing. Equipment sets are available for the students to perform basic experiments in these courses: Circuit Theory 1 and 2, Semiconductor Devices and Modelling, Electronics 1 and 2, and Digital Design. The lab also is where the senior projects are built and tested. In EEE laboratory, students are able to get familiar with electronic instrumentation, such as the oscilloscope, power supply, digital multimeter, and function generator. EEE laboratory is used for experiments to learn the fundamental concepts of electronic circuits. Experiments begin with the analysis and design of electrical networks and progress to courses with experiments using transistors and integrated circuits. Some of the experiments utilize the LabView hardware and software capabilities. Other experiments utilize MATLAB and Electronic Workbench, or P-SPICE simulation software.
The ELEMEND Laboratory is part of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the International Burch University and is established through the ELEMEND Erasmus+ project. ELEMEND laboratory hosts the latest trends in the field of Smart Grids including the newest equipment for photovoltaic (PV) panel, wind turbine, and storage. It supports a variety of courses in the field of Power systems and Control theory including Power system analysis, Distribution systems, Renewable electrical energy systems, Power electronics, etc. Besides teaching and educational purpose, ELEMEND laboratory is used for research as well as Senior design projects, Master and PhD theses. In ELEMEND laboratory, students are able to get familiar with sophisticated hardware and software such as PV panel, wind turbine, storage, power electronics, programmable power supply, which can simulate PV panel, LabVIEW from National Instruments, Humusoft, Beckhoff automation technology, etc.
ESD Embedded System Design LAB
The Embedded Systems Design Laboratory is part of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the International Burch University. Embedded Systems (ES) are computer-based systems where some kind of software interacts with an external environment, usually by means of sensors and actuators, to carry out possibly complex and/or critical functions. Examples of ES are control systems for trains, cars, air- and space craft, industrial plants and production machines, exploration rovers, and environmental and structural monitoring. Our research focuses on the architecture and design of embedded systems and their underlying hardware and software technologies. The ESD Lab supports a variety of courses in embedded systems, process automation and control, computer-aided circuit design (VHDL and FPGA-s) etc. The laboratory includes the following equipment: - FESTO MPS® PA Compact Workstation with level, flow rate, pressure and temperature controlled systems for process automation with both continuous (e.g. P, I, PI, PID) and discontinuous controllers (e.g. two-point controllers) in testing and training. - Computer supported workstations for embedded systems design and programming based on the Texas Instrument Tiva TM4C123G development platform with ARM Cortex M4F microcontroller. - Altera DE0-Nano, DE1 and DE2-115 development boards based on the Cyclone IV FPGA’s - Siemens S7-1200 PLC’s with HMI interfaces, networks switches and LOGO modules for exercises and research related to distributed communication, process control and automation.
