Dealing with difficult pasts – How can arts and culture contribute to dealing with difficult pasts and to reconciliation in Europe

IBU staff member assistant professor Dr. Lejla Odobasic Novo was selected as one of the five participants from BH in the project initiated by the Historical Museum of BH, in the framework of the South Eastern Europe Initiative of the Franco-German Office and of Memory Lab – Trans European Exchange Platform on History and Remembrance.

The project is entitled “Dealing with difficult pasts: How can arts and culture contribute to dealing with difficult pasts and to reconciliation in Europe?” and is a three-part series of seminars. The first seminar took place in Germany this month, second seminar will take place in France in June 2019 and the last seminar will take place in Bosnia and Croatia in September 2019.

As part of the first seminar the participants visited Dachau Memorial Site, other memorial and museum sites in Munich. They also received lectures from local artist and academics and participated in group working sessions on the topic.  The next seminar is scheduled for June 2019 in France.
