Continuing its long-standing tradition, at the beginning of the new academic year the Faculty of Education and Humanities welcomed the new freshmen generation into the new academic year 2019/2020, at the opening ceremony held on October 2, 2019.
In a friendly and warm atmosphere, the Dean of the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senad Bećirović, wished the new students a successful and productive year, emphasizing the importance of understanding learning as a never-ending process of acquisition and application, and seeing education as a fundament of individual as well as social growth. Furthermore, prof. Bećirović stressed the importance of developing a passion for learning as one of the key ingredients for success and growth. The Dean then introduced the new freshmen with professors and assistants who will provide them with guidance and support in the upcoming years, taking the opportunity to also introduce the staff of the newly-established Department of Digital Communications and Public Relations.
By presenting some of the main extracurricular events and activities organized and held in the previous years, the freshmen were encouraged to become members of the Linguistic Club, prepare a paper for the International Student Symposium, volunteer in organization of the Let’s Enjoy English quiz for high school students, and get involved in many other activities the Faculty is planning to organize this year.
Finally, the ceremony was concluded in an artistic and pleasurable manner with recitals by two students – Hana Škarić, who recited the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley, and Uma Hamzić, who recited her author poem The Other Side. Both of them were accompanied on the guitar by Assist. Prof. Dr. Murat Oner.
