International Workshop – Alternative Futures for Sarajevo Polje has been officially launched today at International BURCH University. Conference organiser is the Department of Architecture at BURCH in cooperation with University of Sarajevo, Faculty of Forestry and Faculty of Agriculture and Food Production, Nürtingen-Geislingen University (HfWU), DE, Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT), DE, Université Libre de Bruxelles (BE), Architecture Faculty La ChambreHorta and Association of Landscape Architects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. International Workshop – Alternative Futures for Sarajevo Polje 2016 is a part of International Master of Landscape Architecture (IMLA 2016).
The specific emphasis of this study project is on the integration of urban planning, environmental protection and landscape architecture for building a sustainable development perspective for the urban periphery of Sarajevo.
Audience was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Gunay Karli , Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies, who expressed his honour for hosting such academic activities, adding that this was a continuation of what could be a long-term cooperation between all institutions standing behind the Workshop.
Guests were later addressed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Emina Zejnilović, Head of Department of Architecture at BURCH, who refered to today’s conference as an enormous contribution to the education program. Dr. Ellen Fetzer from the IMLA programme in Germany and ECLAS, stated that Sarajevo was very important city in Europe, and that they needed to identify its potential.
Each speaker, including representative of ALA Bosnia and Herzegovina of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Landscape Architects (ALA BiH), wished guests and students enjoyable stay in Sarajevo and productive work during the Workshop.
