Rapid move to home working last March triggered something of a step change in the use of technology as people looked for alternative ways to deliver and maintain transport infrastructure.

Join NCE editor Claire Smith and special guests Network Rail BIM programme manager John Nolan and Bentley Systems vice president of road and rail asset management Dan Vogen as they look at how the pandemic forced change when it comes to technology and what benefits were derived.

John talks about how fast paced development of a digital twin using existing data allowed his project team to not only continue working on a key project, but also to drive cost and time savings that would not have been possible previously.

Dan saw similar change outside of the UK and believes that the pandemic acted as driver to bring forward technology change that might have taken five to 10 years in normal circumstances.

Claire and the guests explore what the barriers are to continuing technology uptake at the same pace going forward and consider what technology we could be using in the future and how that will benefit both construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure.
