So far, so close: ELL Department end-of-semester online gathering 2020

Following the completion of spring semester classes, academic staff and students from the Department of English Language and Literature convened online and organized a gathering event with the aim to reflect on academic experiences and celebrate cultural and linguistic diversity.

Affective, rhetorical and lyrical in essence, the event was characterized by recitals, poetry reading, and national and popular genre songs in English, Bosnian, French, Romanian, Arabic, and Turkish language which thereby instigated a sense of community, creativity, as well as individual and collective accomplishment.

Complemented by harmonious tunes, several poems were recited, namely Ibrišimović’s “Bosna” by prof. Akay, Yeats’ “Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven” by Raid Ćulah, Gibran’s “A’tini al-Nay” by Mahera Salhab, Antić’s “Besmrtna pjesma” by Emina Kahrimanović and “Semalar” by prof. Oner. Furthermore, Erasmus exchange students from France and Moldavia, Sophie Marie Charbonnier and Barbau Catalin, and an international student from Turkey Rumeysa Turkut also performed four songs.Ultimately, in the wake of their forthcoming graduation fourth year students then exchanged their observations and acknowledgement of auspicious opportunities and experiences obtained at the Department and University.
